NABA provides representation for North American broadcasters in global forums on topics including technical standards and digital transition, spectrum related issues, safety and security, territorial integrity of broadcasters’ signals, journalism issues such as freedom of speech and protection of journalists, and protection of content.
A North American office is required for membership consideration. Membership is granted only on the approval of the NABA Board of Directors.
Affiliate Members are usually service providers or vendors who have no voting rights, but who are involved in the business of broadcasting and have a direct interest in many of the items in the NABA work plan.
NABA’s greatest strength is the breadth of its membership. It brings together some of the most successful and influential broadcasters in North America, both private and public. Its members include national and regional broadcasting associations, specialty services, and major suppliers of products and services. Becoming a NABA member opens the door to a range of expertise, business interests, services and opportunities essential to broadcasters operating in today’s complex and challenging environment. Here are just some of the benefits of a NABA membership:
NABA is the common voice for North American broadcasters at home and around the world. Joining NABA is a key strategy for broadcasters looking for a strong and effective advocate.
NABA provides outstanding opportunities for broadcasters to enhance their networks of contacts across the communications industry.
NABA’s broad membership and international reach ensures that its members are able to gather information on what others in the sector are doing and learn from some of the leading thinkers in the communications industry.
- Access to industry leaders
NABA helps members broaden their homes and keep in touch with key trends and developments across the industry by providing access to nationally and internationally known speakers from the broadcasting sector and beyond.
- Work with NABA committees
All NABA members are encouraged to be full participants in any committee activity of interest to them. NABA committees provide members with forums where they can collaborate on best practices, discuss common challenges and opportunities, and work together to effect change.
- Participation in NABA and WBU seminars and tutorials
NABA membership entitles broadcasters to participate in the WBU’s International Media Connectivity Group (WBU-IMCG) forums held every spring and fall alternately between North America and Europe/Asia.
- Participation in the NABA AGM and Conference
NABA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) provides members with the opportunity to gather in one place to discuss important issues in official meetings and through conference panels. NABA members take turns hosting the AGM at their facilities, with past AGMs taking place at Fox (Los Angeles), CBC/Radio-Canada (Toronto), NBC-Universal (New York), and Televisa/TV Azteca (Mexico City).
As a member of and Secretariat to the WBU, NABA can help members meet and build relationships with leading broadcasters in North America and around the world.
