The work of NABA’s Legal Committee is of great value to its members. It has devoted considerable effort and resources, in conjunction with other broadcasting unions and the World Broadcasting Union, to develop and implement strategies advocating for adoption of a treaty at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that would modernize the rights and protection afforded to broadcasters’ signals internationally in the digital era. The Committee also shares information on significant legal and regulatory developments in Canada, Mexico and the US affecting its members, and provides counsel to the NABA Board of Directors and other committees on these issues.
