TORONTO — November 11, 2025 — The North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) is pleased to announced it will be headlining two timely discussions at 2025 Sports Video Group Summit New York on Tuesday, December 16, spotlighting spectrum policy for live production and the next generation of cloud-native facility interoperability.
Session 1: Spectrum Losses and the Impact on Live Production – 10AM to 11AM
Presented by NABA, this session will brief attendees on the stakes for live sports and event production as regulators consider further reallocations of spectrum relied upon by broadcasters (e.g., C-band and PMSE). Through the North American Spectrum Alliance, a NABA project that coordinates technical and operational priorities across broadcasters, production partners, and suppliers, work is underway on advancing a unified industry position to safeguard reliable wireless broadcast production and distribution. Brad Cheney, VP, Field Operations & Engineering at FOX Sports, will provide an overview of the FCC’s proposed C-band auction rules and potential consequences for the industry, and Henry Cohen, Director, Spectrum Affairs of CP Communications, will survey the myriad RF systems and spectrum bands used across production and broadcast operations—detailing what’s at risk in the coming years.
Session 2: A Deep Dive into DMF/MXL – 11AM to 12PM
Industry leaders John Mailhot, VP of Product Management, Imagine Communications, and Francois Legrand, Senior Director, CBC/Radio-Canada’s Innovation Lab present a deep dive into the new initiative for the Media Exchange Layer within the Dynamic Media Facilities (DMF/MXL). John and Francois are two of the core insiders shaping this industry initiative. Don’t miss this briefing on the state of the art of the future of interoperable cloud technology and how it will benefit your production process.
“Safeguarding spectrum for live events and enabling open-sourced, interoperable cloud-native production are top-of-mind for our members,” said Rebecca Hanson, Director-General, NABA. “We’re pleased to share how NABA members are leading these two efforts with the sports video community.”
